16.1. Naming Conventions for User Classes

The following table summarizes the conventions for user class names:

Type Prefix Uppercase? Example
Bundles CB_ No CB_JTAG_Interface
Modules CM_ No CM_Power
Parts CP_ Yes CP_74HCT574
Properties CR_ No CR_Critical

Part class names are entirely uppercase, because the type name will appear in CAD netlists, and some layout programs may not be designed to accept mixed upper/lowercase type names.

A class browser that displays classes alphabetically will sort user classes conforming to the above conventions into bundles, modules, parts, and properties, greatly enhancing the navigability of a design.
